Constituted 2 May 1918 in the Regular Army as Battery F, 71st Artillery (Coast Artillery Corps). Organized 12 May 1918 at Fort Banks, Massachusetts. Demobilized 6 March 1919 at Camp Devens, Massachusetts. Reconstituted 1 July 1940 in the Regular Army as Battery F, 71st Coast Artillery. Activated 3 January 1941 at Fort Story, Virginia.
Reorganized and redesignated 1 September 1943 as Battery B, 384th Antiaircraft Artillery Automatic Weapons Battalion. Inactivated 18 August 1944 at Camp Pickett, Virginia. Disbanded 26 October 1944. Reconstituted 23 April 1946 in the Regular Army and redesignated as Battery B, 384th Antiaircraft Artillery Gun Battalion. Activated 8 May 1946 at Fort Bliss, Texas. Disbanded 31 January 1949 at Fort Bliss, Texas. Reconstituted 28 June 1950 in the Regular Army; concurrently consoli¬dated with Battery B, 41st Antiaircraft Artillery Gun Battalion (active) (see ANNEX), and consolidated unit designated as Battery B, 41st Antiaircraft Artillery Gun Battalion. Redesignated 3 August 1953 as Battery B, 41st Antiaircraft Artillery Battalion. Inactivated 20 December 1957 at New York, New York.
Redesignated 31 July 1959 as Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 6th Battalion, 71st Artillery. Redesignated 18 January 1962 as Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 6th Missile Battalion, 71st Artillery (organic elements concurrently constituted). Battalion activated 2 June 1962 at Fort Bliss, Texas. Redesignated 14 June 1965 as the 6th Battalion, 71st Artillery. Inactivated 31 March 1970 at Fort Bliss, Texas. Redesignated 1 September 1971 as the 6th Battalion, 71st Air Defense Artillery.

Constituted 25 February 1943 in the Army of the United States as Battery B, 119th Coast Artillery Battalion. Activated 2 April 1943 at Camp Haan, California. Redesignated 28 June 1943 as Battery B, 119th Antiaircraft Artillery Gun Battalion. Inactivated 17 December 1945 at Camp Kilmer, New Jersey. Redesignated 13 October 1948 as Battery B, 41st Antiaircraft Artillery Gun Battalion, and allotted to the Regular Army. Activated 8 June 1949 at Fort Bliss, Texas.
